I thought I wouldn't have anything to post for another month or so while watching competent organizations compete during the postseason.
I was wrong.
Despite the fact that the 2010 season's Super Bowl is still more than three weeks away, I've already received my 2011 season ticket renewal package from the arrogant, underachieving, sub-.500 49ers. Not only have these clowns raised my ticket price from $116 to $129 per seat per game, they've also raised parking to $30 a game (if you've never had the "pleasure" of fitting you vehicle into a stall in the main lot, it's comparable to trying to slip your adult-sized feet into a pair of a toddler's walking shoes). Oh, and the parking pass is automatically included in your invoice if you had one the previous season. It's not an "option" that you can easily subtract. Final total? $2,884.00. Unbelievable.
But wait - it gets better.
These clowns want my first payment (50% or 100% only - they are no longer accepting 3 or 4 payment plans) by February 22. Yep, the 49ers want to start drawing interest on my money two months prior to the draft and without a collective bargaining agreement in place, which could jeopardize the start of the 2011 season. Hell, the league hasn't even determined who all of the 49ers opponents will be (there are two "TBD" entries in the list of 2011 opponents on my invoice).
For eight years I've supported this team while they've stumbled their way through the regular season, never coming close to a playoff berth. For eight years, I've gone along with every ticket price increase. For eight years, I've heard empty promises from three head coaches and countless members of the York family. For eight years, I've seen ZERO return on my entertainment investment. Now, this clueless collection of egoists without a single football accomplishment wants MORE?
So, I'm supposed to pay more money than I ever have before for the same seats in the same crappy stadium while the team DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A LEGITIMATE QUARTERBACK AND CANNOT SIGN ONE UNTIL THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT IS REACHED (which may not happen until next fall). And, we have another head coach who has never even been an NFL coordinator before. Sound familiar? It should - this has happened at least three times over the past half-dozen years. As a consumer, I refuse to purchase this shoddy product.
Not this time. Not anymore. But rather than extend the courtesy of notifying the team that I will not be renewing my tickets, I'm going to disregard this notice and make them reach out to me, at which point I will happily tell them where they can shove this invoice (hint - it's up their ass).
Screw this team. They can't even wait for the corpse of 2010 to be buried before they start hitting us up for more money. I thought money was no object, but I guess that only applies when YOU are spending MINE.
